Why split line item quantities?
There might be a time where you need to split a single line item into separate lines for fulfillment by different vendors when dealing with quantity shortages.
For example, if a customer orders a quantity of 10 of a specific product, but no single vendor has the full quantity in stock, the order can be split into two purchase orders so that 6 can be fulfilled by vendor A, and 4 can be fulfilled by vendor B.
There isn't a simple way to achieve this in Duoplane, but we recommend making the split in BigCommerce directly and then re-syncing the order in Duoplane, that way the SKU and order information stays completely synced with Duoplane.
How to split line item quantities
Below are steps to split line items on an order directly in BigCommerce:
- In BigCommerce, click "edit order" under the three dots
- Click "next" to see the line item
- Copy/paste the line item to add it again, under "Add products"
- Change the quantities in the "Qty" column to the desired split
- Click "next", then "save"
- In Duoplane, click "re-import from cart" on the right-side panel to view the changes immediately after
- Click "assign items to new PO" and select one to assign to the different vendor (this will create a second PO)
This is the best method because the product and order information are still synced/linked to BigCommerce.
