Create and Manage Product Bundles

Bundling products can be a great way to provide a complete solution for your customers and ultimately help attach complimentary products to a sale on your ecommerce store. In Duoplane you can designate product bundles so the bundle is automatically broken out into its individual components on the associated purchase orders. This way the bundle looks the way you want it on your ecommerce store and will not create any headaches when sending a purchase order to your vendor.

In this article you will learn how to create, edit, or revert/remove a bundle.

What is a product bundle?

A product bundle is a product that is made up of other component products, each of which are individual inventory units.

For example, you might sell a tool set that includes a hammer, screwdrivers, and a wrench. While the end customer purchases the bundle "Tool Set", your warehouse or vendor needs to know to which individual inventory units to fulfill.

In this guide we will refer to the main bundle product as the "parent" product, and the products included in the bundle as "component" products.

Create a bundle

Important: Before you create the bundle, please ensure that all of the products (the parent product as well as each component) are already present in your product catalog. Even if you do not sell the components individually, you should still create a product record for them but leave the product hidden from the end customer.

1. In your Duoplane Retailer account, go to Products and locate the product you would like to use as the bundle parent

2. Select the product and go to the very bottom of the product page

3. Click the button that says Convert this product to a bundle. The next screen will allow you to specify the component products

4. Using the search input, search for the component(s) by name or SKU and select the correct product from the search results. Repeat until all components are added

5. By default, the bundle will include a quantity of one of each component. You can edit this value using the field under Bundle Quantity and pressing the Update quantities button

Edit a bundle

1. In your Duoplane Retailer account, go to Products and locate the bundle parent product
2. Select the product and go to the very bottom of the product page
3. Click the button that says Manage bundle components
4. From this menu you can add, remove, or change the quantity of any component product(s)

Remove items from a bundle

To remove a component product from a bundle, follow the above steps to edit a bundle and reduce the component's quantity to zero. 

Revert the bundle parent back to a regular product SKU

If the bundle parent product is no longer a bundle, you can revert it back to a regular simple product (or individual SKU).

1. Follow the above steps to edit a bundle
2. Reduce every component product's quantity to zero and click the Update quantities button
3. Return to the product record for the bundle parent product
4. Scroll to the very bottom of the product page
5. Click the button on the bottom right that says Revert this product to a simple product
