Adding Products to Duoplane via Your Ecommerce Platform
Duoplane syncs all products directly from your ecommerce platform, so any new products first need to be added there. Once that is done, they will be automatically synced into Duoplane.

Why should I add product information?
When Duoplane sees that a new sales order has been created, it can automatically create vendor purchase orders and route fulfillment requests to your warehouse or drop ship vendor. In order to do this properly, Duoplane needs to know some details about the products on the order.
What information should I add?
There are several key pieces of product information that Duoplane needs in order to create a full purchase order. The primary ones are:
- The item's vendor
- The wholesale cost of the product
- The SKU of the item as it is known to the vendor
Of secondary importance are:
- The inventory status of the item. (Quantity available or in-stock / out-of-stock status.)
- The purchase name of the item, if the product is known to your vendor by a different name than how you present it in your ecommerce store.
What happens if I don't add this information to each product?
Don't worry. If you don't have this information for every product, you can still process orders. If the item is missing a vendor, you will be prompted to assign a vendor the first time that item is ordered. If you are missing other information (cost or SKU), it will remain blank on the purchase order.
How do I add product information?
Before you add any information directly into Duoplane, let's make sure that it does not already exist in your store's product catalog. If any of the information already exists in any of your ecommerce channel's product catalogs, the easiest thing is to have it come from there automatically.
You can accomplish this by mapping your ecommerce channel's product fields to Duoplane fields, and Duoplane can import the information. In other words, if your cart software's product already has each item's wholesale cost in a field called "cost_price", you would just need to tell Duoplane to look for the cost in that field, and Duoplane will automatically import it.
If that is not the case, you can easily add the missing product information directly into Duoplane. Please refer to this article to learn how to edit or upload your ecommerce product information.
